    In encouters with both EC (at the TAFTIE Policy Forum organised in June 2009)  and with Eureka (TAFTIE Annual Conference in December 2009), TAFTIE was encouraged to give recommendations on how the SMEs' innovation support measures at EU level could be developed, organised and implemented from 2014 on.

  • CDTI assumed the TAFTIE Chairmanship for the second time in its history taking advantage of the Spanish Presidency of the EU during the first semester in a period of time that before the beginning of the year was also felt as changing.

  • Marko Mihkelson shared his views on recent developments and future scenarios in Russia with TAFTIE Executive Working Group Members in Tallinn on 16th February.

     

  • TAFTIE of course fully agrees with the need to audit the use of public funding. But since in some occasions, the Commission's current practice of auditing FP6 projects has raised concerns among certain TAFTIE members and their clients, TAFTIE decided to send a letter to Commissioner Potočnik.

  • Small and medium-sized enterprises aiming at growth and internationalisation and Strategic Centres for Science, Technology and Innovation received an even larger share of Tekes funding in 2010. Tekes invested EUR 233 million in SME projects and nearly EUR 100 million in the Strategic Centres for Science, Technology and Innovation.

  • Since the Technology Transfer Strengthening initiative was launched in April 2007, Enterprise Ireland has worked side by side with Irish Technology Transfer Offices in higher education institutes to develop a world-class system for transferring valuable intellectual property from research into industry.

  • In Cutting Edge (a magazine published by VINNOVA), an article can be found on a recent evaluation by the OECD that states that conditions in Sweden for creating regional economic growth are better than in many other countries.

  • VINNOVA has commisioned in-depth studies of the prioritisation mechanisms in the China, Japan, the US and within the EU’s Framework Programmes.

  • The 2010 Innovation Union Scoreboard has been published as successor of the previous European Innovation Scoreboard.
