Pera is an international innovation and technology transfer organisation that facilitates industry, mainly SME, access to national and European public funds to develop new technology and engage in international technology transfer.

Activities:
Established almost 60 years ago by the UK Government, Pera has grown to become one of Europe's leading centres for supporting SMEs in the area of innovation and technology development. Pera manages a wide range of national and regional industry support programmes for SME innovation, research & technology transfer through its sites and partners in most Members States across the E.U. As a not-for-profit organisation Pera has delivered innovation and technology transfer services on behalf of Government to more than 100,000 SMEs over the last decade. This period has seen Pera hone and perfect processes, collated from across the World, for stimulating and facilitating innovation in industry and enabling the international technology transfer necessary to make possible the innovative product and service ideas we help generate.
- Regionally in the UK, we currently deliver innovation support programmes in partnership with six regional development agencies in the UK. Our dedicated team of over 70 Innovation Practitioners and support staff annually help over 300 companies develop innovative product and service ideas leading to over 1.3Bn of additional sales and business development.
- Nationally for UK industry, we provide the UK governments international technology transfer and partnering services which include the flagship International Technology Promoters and Global Watch (ITP & GW) services. In addition, we manage international business partnering programmes such as Attracting Global Entrepreneurs (AGES), as well as the international Missions and Secondments programme for UK industry.
- At a European level, we have facilitated more SMEs than any other European organisation to access EC Framework Programme funding to develop new, technology enabled and knowledge intensive product ideas. We have also helped more than 25,000 SMEs build or gain access into international supply and value chains to help take new and innovative products to global markets.
Through this work we have developed a unique perspective on national and regional innovation systems within Europe and around the World, in relation to their constituent components, the interactions within them and the practicalities of stimulation and facilitating innovation on the ground in real companies.
